Tata has been making innovations in the way factory-fitted CNG cars are offered in our market. After introducing the twin-cylinder technology in 2023, the Indian carmaker has now launched an industry-first automatic transmission option from the factory on the CNG variant of the Tiago/Tigor duo.
Here are a few other advantages the Tiago CNG now has over its segment rivals:
Automatic Gearbox
The Tiago CNG has become the first car in India to get an automatic gearbox option (5-speed AMT unit). The automatic transmission is paired with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that puts out 73.5 PS and 95 Nm when running on CNG.
Dual-cylinder technology
Tata introduced the dual-cylinder tech with the Altroz iCNG last year. This technology has now made its way to other CNG vehicles in the carmaker’s portfolio including the Tiago. Unlike other CNG offerings in the market, the dual-cylinder tech employs two smaller cylinders that free up a little more space in the boot.
4-star Safety Rating
the automobile community
The Tiago secured a 4-star crash test rating back in 2020 by the Global NCAP. In comparison, the hatchback’s immediate rivals have either got a lower rating or have not yet been tested.
Extra Features
Tata is offering the CNG AMT in higher end XT , XZ+ and XZ NRG trims across the CNG range. This means, it gets extra features like push-button start/stop, rear washer with wiper, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rain sensing wipers, ISOFIX child seat anchors and eight speaker sound system.
More CNG Variants
Hyundai offers CNG in the lower-end Magna and Sportz variants of the Grand i10 Nios. Similarly, Maruti Suzuki offers CNG in the LXI and VXI variants of the Celerio and WagonR. However, Tiago CNG is available in higher-end variants, providing you with a top-spec experience not found in the other models.
These are some of the advantages the Tata Tiago CNG now has over its rivals. Its prices range from Rs 7.90 lakh to Rs 8.80 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India). What are your thoughts on the Tata Tiago CNG AMT? Let us know in the comments.
